The River’s Edge development, orchestrated by Rare Innovation under Superintendent Shaun Roney, stands as a cornerstone of the Northern Transformation Program, embodying a $45.5 million investment.
The River’s Edge project, completed in 2023, is a new learning, teaching and research building located at the edge of the North Esk river amongst the historic Launceston Railway Workshops at the Inveresk Precinct.
Under the guidance of Superintendent Shaun Roney, this state-of-the-art facility at the University of Tasmania merges disciplines like Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Education, and Business in a supportive, collaborative environment.
It champions accessibility, student counselling, and learning support, alongside housing the Riawunna Centre for Aboriginal Education. This development, designed with significant input from over 150 students, staff, and the community, features modern, digitally enabled classrooms to support interactive and face-to-face learning. Its design emphasises sustainability, engagement, and the creation of meaningful exchanges within the university community, making it a pivotal addition to the Inveresk Precinct.
